Kevin - Great comments and feedback. Completely understand your perspective as it relates to the Dassey interview. I think one of the major faults is the lack of representation of Dassey which could have included his attorney or guardian. There are also modifications to several techniques for individuals such as Dassey so that precautions are taken to protect the individual. Great points!

Chris - Thanks for the info, I'll have to check out that case!

Burke - Appreciate you taking the time to read the article. The theme and intent of the article was to highlight the biases that you have mentioned in your comment. As you've seen in the article, I think there were faults on both sides of the table including the investigative process as well as the documentary.

Jacob - Great comments! The documentary leaves a lot of questions to be answered as you have highlighted. You're also correct in your evaluation of a proper investigation, as any and all subjects should be investigated with the presumption of innocence. Targeting one suspect without taking other theories into account could provide for a biased investigation.

Thanks to all for the comments... for more feedback feel free to email me at DThompson@w-z.com or on twitter @DThompsonWZ

Ryan - Thanks for reading and taking the time to add your perspective!

Agreed that filmmakers have done a great job in starting a conversation about integrity in the justice system. Also, agreed with points you make about Dasseys interrogation. As you know, as a CFI, our goal should always be to obtain the truth, not a confession.

Like you have mentioned, this is not an isolated issue. Hopefully this issue will force people to ask more questions and become more well-informed before jumping to conclusions on either side of the fence.
