The "3C Method" Capture/Confession/Conviction

This three-day course incorporates two perspectives, one from a seasoned homicide detective, and the other from a highly skilled prosecutor. Working together, the speakers blend practical street smarts and courtroom know-how to cover all of the techniques necessary to develop leads, identify suspects, and interview those involved.

The course will present illustrations from actual death investigations. Participants will work through cases from the moment first responders arrive until those responsible are convicted at trial.

This seminar is taught by Lou Tessmann, Deputy Police Chief Waukegan Illinois, Ret. Lou is a seasoned homicide investigator who was also the Commander of the elite Lake County Major Crime Task Force. He has conducted thousands of interviews and interrogations and has obtained over 80 homicide confessions. As a veteran with over 21 years of service, his tenure has given him a wide variety of experiences to teach a course that is both practical and informative.

This program also features Jeff Pavletic. Jeff is the First Assistant State’s Attorney in charge of the Criminal Division of the Lake County (Illinois) State’s Attorney’s Office and General Counsel to the Major Crime Task Force. His 20 years of extensive trail experience includes over 150 jury trials with a concentration in homicide prosecution and violent crime. Those trials have involved some of the most high profile and complex cases in Illinois history. Jeff is a published author and well respected instructor of law.
